Brief History of Polarity Therapy in Australia

is the real substance behind the appearance of matter and forms.”
Randolph Stone, founder of Polarity Therapy.)
Although little known in Australia, Polarity
Therapy is a comprehensive wellness system that is
steadily gaining well-earned recognition in many countries.
In Australia, Polarity Therapy
has had a sporadic history. For example, in the 1980s, a
Polarity Practitioner from the USA moved to Australia, in
the wake of the contentious collapse of a Polarity community
in California, and began to offer sessions and training
to Australians. More recently, a dedicated Australian practitioner
in South Australia has been providing training. Some years
ago, a British practitioner also began providing some Polarity
Therapy training, predominantly by distance learning. Two
people who did that training have been offering Polarity
Therapy classes in NSW since about 2007. Also since about
2007, another American has also been coming to Australia
to offer Polarity Therapy Practitioner training in Sydney.
Therapies Institute is unique in that the programme
director, Dr Ranna-Lesley Lachlan (PhD, Board Certified Polarity
Practitioner, Registered Polarity Educator), is an Australian
who has lived and worked in the USA, has served on the Board
of the U.S. Polarity Therapy Association - as Ethics Liaison,
yet also remains firmly anchored in her Australian-ness.
With a dual base in both Australia and the USA, she is home
in Australia several times a year, so she is uniquely positioned
to steer the Institute's Polarity Therapy Practitioner training
in Australia (currently in the Blue Mountains, NSW).
Students in Australia can undertake:
of Achievement for Intro Workshop. Read
of Polarity Therapy - associate pratitioner level training
which imparts fundamental skills that allow graduates to beging
to practice as Polarity Therapists. Read
Diploma of Polarity Therapy - registered practitioner
level training which can also lead to preparation for Board
Certification through the American Polarity Therapy Association.
Read more. (Since
board certification involves extensive vetting of the relevant
organization, approval of the examination process by an external
governing body, an examination undertaken by prospective certificants
who have already qualified as practitioners through an approved
training program, this certification is only available through
the American association.)
Becoming a Polarity Therapy Practitioner gives you the
tools to assist others through health and life issues.

Polarity Practitioner; Registered Polarity Educator.)
Commitment to Australia: Reflecting the
founder's Australian origins, the Institute is committed
to providing consistent follow-through in the training of
Polarity Practitioners and Therapists in Australia, and
the development of public awareness of Polarity Therapy
in Australia. Ranna is firmly committed to the development
of Polarity Therapy as a distinct therapeutic method in
its own right in Australia (and gobally) rather than dilution
of Polarity Therapy as part of other modalities.
Eligibility: Students and practitioners
training at ETI can join one of two professional organizations
serving the Australian alternative health community: (1)
the International Institute of Complementary Therapies -
IICT, which also provides
practitioner liability insurance and accepts student members;
or (2) the Australian Polarity Therapy Network - PTNA
- which is comprised of qualified professional practitioners
who also have professional connections to the American Polarity
Therapy Association - APTA. Both IICT Australia and PTNA
provide a network of supportive and helpful practitioners
To dispel any confusion
regarding APTA and ETI's relationship with it, intending students
of ETI are asked to please note that the founder of ETI has
a long professional history with the APTA
in the U.S.A., a genuine non-profit organization founded in
1984 for the furtherment of Polarity Therapy. On the other hand,
according to cross-referenced online information, the Australian
Polarity Therapy Association - also calling itself APTA
- is an arm of a for-profit private entity based in Sydney.
ETI has absolutely no affiliation with, cannot endorse, and
does not provide any information about this latter "organization
the confusion for people newly interested in Polarity Therapy,
despite the fact that APTA had already been the acronym for
the American Polarity Therapy Association in the U.S.A. for
just on 30 years prior, the "organization" / "association"
arm of the Sydney entity began to operate under the acronym
The original APTA

The founder of ETI is listed at the original APTA website as
both a practitioner and trainer. Anyone interested in the "Australian
APTA" should conduct their own due diligence and their
own cautious inquiries.)
